Music

At Worth Primary School our intent in music is to provide opportunities to create, play, perform and enjoy music, to develop the skills to appreciate a wide variety of musical forms and begin to make judgements about the quality of music.

Music should be an enjoyable learning experience and at Worth Primary School we aim to do this through a range of musical activities. The children will develop their ability and confidence in singing in tune in small groups. We teach the skill of listening to and appreciating different forms of music and musical aspects, including: pitch, pulse, rhythm, timber, dynamics and texture. Additionally, the children will begin to learn some of the features of musical notation and use this in their own compositions.

Pupils will have built on their previous learning and by the time they leave Worth Primary School they will have been exposed to musical notation; to compare and contrast a range of music using key vocabulary; to sing confidently and accuracy, either as a soloist or in an ensemble; have composed and performed their own melodies, using chords and the elements of music; experienced playing a musical instrument.
